This wine comes from Rancho Boa Vista, a certified organic vineyard and olive orchard perched on the west-facing slopes at the southern end of the Ballard Canyon AVA. I fell in love with warm-climate Grenache Blanc the very first vintage I worked with it here in Santa Barbara County. Rancho Boa Vista captures the harmonious blend of the varieties’ Mediterranean roots and the California sunshine it grows under beautifully
This bottling is especially significant, as it marks the final vintage of Grenache Blanc from Rancho Boa Vista. The vineyard was unexpectedly abandoned after the 2024 harvest, and I feel both grateful for the wines we were able to make and sad to say goodbye. Looking ahead, in 2024 we planted our own estate Grenache Blanc at Ibarra-Young. Our first harvest will come in 2026. Good things take time.

This Grenache Blanc was brought into the winery in two picks at the end of September and beginning of October. We tried something new this year and created an “unsettled juice” component where we selected several barrels to ferment with higher solid content. We loved the result and found these barrels to bring a great texture and energy to the blend. The settled juice component was sent to a tank overnight, and then gravity racked to neutral French Oak barrels for fermentation with its native yeast. The final blend is a combination of the two winemaking techniques. This wine spent several months aging on lees in barrel before being blended together up to a stainless tank at the beginning of the summer. This wine was then bottled unfined and unfiltered September of 2025.

Tasting Notes
Let her open up and she’ll treat you with kindness. Delicate lemon rind with a saline and mouthwatering finish. A kiss of sea spray and a sip of a salty margarita. Like snacking on a cold slice of charntais on a hot summer day. Refreshing and very food friendly.

about the label
Art: The monarch caterpillar on narrowleaf milkweed on the front paired with the metamorphosis on the back were both painted by my lovely mother, Eileen Anderson. The monarch imagery is meant to emphasize the importance of invertebrates and pollinators in our ecosystem. The monarchs made a huge population comeback in 2021 hence the new label art. This wine is a tribute to learning about the importance of native insects and their ecology. We encourage you to spread information about the importance of invertebrates, plant organic flowers for their benefit, and donate to invertebrate protection organizations if you are able to.

The wine club generally offers otherwise sold out wines.
