This wine had an unconventional inception! I hadn’t originally intended to make a single vineyard Roussanne. These varieties always take me back to that time living in a medieval stone village, but Sundrop carries a distinctly Californian spirit. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver the past few years, our relationship with the Boltons has grown into a true partnership. We’ve grazed our sheep among their vines, shared knowledge about holistic farming practices, and gradually woven our philosophies together. Today, we lease the vineyard, giving us the ability to steward the land as our own. We’re able to let the understory go wild and native, fine-tune the irrigation, and guide the vineyard’s vigor to match our vision. A fun and probably atypical expression of a Santa Barbara County GSM. The word ‘ravie’ translates to the feminine version of ‘delighted’ in French. I giggle a little reminiscing on learning French during my time in France. I learned a very rustic version of French while working in the countryside and when I would go down to the south of France to visit my friends and chat with them, or worse, their parents, they would completely cringe at the inappropriate French I would confidently say in my silly American accent. Anyway, they tried their best to present me with a more polite vocabulary. Rancho Boa Vista captures the harmonious blend of the varieties’ Mediterranean roots and the California sunshine it grows under beautifully\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis bottling is especially significant, as it marks the final vintage of Grenache Blanc from Rancho Boa Vista. The vineyard was unexpectedly abandoned after the 2024 harvest, and I feel both grateful for the wines we were able to make and sad to say goodbye. Looking ahead, in 2024 we planted our own estate Grenache Blanc at Ibarra-Young. Our first harvest will come in 2026. In Los Olivos District AVA, Tempranillo grows easily, is very drought resistant, and always wins the beauty contest. These vines clearly want to be here!
